Our Anniversary

Our third wedding anniversary was on the 26th, which was really nice. We went out to dinner at Fiddler's Three in Shelbyville. Neither of us had ever been there, and it was better than we thought it would be. It odd to think we've been married three years; I guess it's because it doesn't seem that long ago that I was agonizing over the wedding plans. It's probably also because Chris and I met as freshmen in college and started dating as sophomores: so we've been together forever!

Other than that, nothing too exciting has been happening. On Monday we're going to buy the new car, which is exciting. We'll be heading to Connersville for the 4th of July. It's Chris' second favorite holiday and we usually spend a bundle on fireworks so that Chris can get the full experience. In all honesty, he puts on a better show with those illegal fireworks than the city of Connersville does! All of the people in his parents neighborhood come to the house to watch the spectacle. It's pretty funny, actually. You see all these people camped out in the driveway with their picnic baskets and lawn chairs watching Chris shoot off his fireworks! I'll leave you with a few pictures from our anniversary!

Hurray!

Today was the last day of summer school! HURRAY! Now I can just rest and relax and do nothing until August 11th!

Other than that, it's been a busy week. Between my birthday on the 11th, Heidi coming up from Evansville for a few days and the whirlwind of activity that corresponds, and Father's day, I haven't even had much time to sit down. Plenty of time for that now!

The other big news is that within the next week or two Chris and I will be buying a new car. We still haven't decided exactly which kind or anything yet, but I'm very excited to have a enw vehicle. The neon just hasn't held up all that well in the last year, despite the fact that it has very low miles. So we'll see what we end up deciding on!

The Newspaper

For those of you that are interested, there's an article in the Saturday edition of the Shelbyville news about the alternative programs Shelbyville has... and yes, I'm a part of the article! The reporter came in to the high school Tuesday to interview Mr. Zobel, the assistant principal from the middle school, the two guys that do the Alternative to Expulsion and Suspension programs, and me. Here's the link!

This is actually the third article I've been interviewed for in the two years that my alternative program has been around. It's exciting stuff, and I hope it really informs people about the opportunities for alternative ed for those unique students that need something a little different.

Summer School and Birthday Parties

Well I'm half way through my second week of teaching summer school. It STINKS!!! I've got 30 students in one room with just little old me to facilitate, answer questions, and classroom manage. Not to mention the fact that about 15 of these students are frequent discipline problems that shouldn't have been placed in summer school to begin with. This is officially my last year for it; every spring I think to myself "But it's easy money..." This year it's not so easy and definitely unenjoyable. I'm counting the minutes until the 20th!!!

In other news, last Friday Chris and I went to watch the Reds play the Braves. It was a fun game, even though it went extra innings and the Braves lost. After the game there were fireworks as a part of fan appreciation night, so that was neat. Chris LOVES fireworks; it definitely brings out the little kid in him and it's so cute!

Saturday was my niece and nephew's birthday party. Claire is 4 and Collin is 10. Collin also had a little league game that day, so I don't really have any good pictures of him, but below are pictures of Claire and her cake.

Well, tomorrow's Wednesday so that means only 3 more days until summer school if half over. Got to be positive, right?
