I don't think it's been above 45 all week! But here's a quick recap. 1. We got a new car!!! We traded in Chris' truck, which wasn't extended cab (meaning there was no way for a car seat to go in there) and got a 2010 Pontiac G6. It's silver and sporty and best of all.... now we have 2 vehicles in which we can take Zach! Plus, this way Chris can now pick up Zach from day care when I get held up at work (more on that later). 2. Zach got his 3rd hair cut. He still hates it... screams, cries, snot flies; overall it's not a pretty process. I'm toying with the idea of either A.) just letting his curls grow and politely correcting people when they think he's a girl, or B.) cutting it in his sleep and trying to keep it even. Somehow I don't think Chris will go for either of those ideas, so we'll be back to Great Clips in another month or so... 3. We took Zach and Kaylan to Chuck E. Cheese. They loved it. I remember it as being more fun and less work when I was a kid. I suppose that's the story of parenthood... 4. So right before we went on break, I had a big meeting at work with our superintendant, assistant superintendant, principal, and director of technology to discuss expanding my alternative program. This is my 5th year since I started the program with little more than a vague of idea of what I should be doing. In those 5 years, I've helped over 100 kids earn their diploma - and in all honesty I'd say that 90+ wouldn't have finished school otherwise. What I've found is that many of them are behind academically which makes traditional school frustrating, but I've also had many with mental illness (like anxiety disorder, depression, bipolar disorder, etc.) that make school almost impossible, and then there's a whole group that just have the worst home lives imaginable. The result of our big pow-wow was that they want to double the number of students enrolled and hire another person to facilitate those students in another classroom. We're also looking at offering a special class 3 days a week in the evenings, taught by a part time instructional assistant, for adults that have previously dropped out. While I'll still be in the classroom most of the time, I'll have more of an administrative role in terms of selecting students for admission, paperwork, discipline, etc. I'm excited about the opportunity, especially since they're pretty much giving me free reign on how I want to set everything up! So keep your fingers crossed for me, since I'll spend the rest of this year doing organizational stuff - and we'll start next year!Melissa Lakeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01451801697070635749noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7253942694408612569.post-64309514463718386362011-03-13T14:42:00.002-04:002011-03-13T15:01:59.074-04:00A ComparisonZach spent a whole day with Heidi (Aunt Didi) and Kaylan recently. He had so much fun that every time we get in the car now, he asks "Go Didi and Kay?". Wal-Mart just isn't interesting anymore, unless his favorite aunt and baby cousin are coming along.

The whole thing got me thinking about how they are as different as night and day. Not just in appearance either, although if you saw them side by side you'd never think they're related. Kaylan is petite, with a peaches and cream complexion, blond hair, and blue eyes. Zach is off the charts tall for his age group, with dark hair and big brown eyes. Even though there's only 3 months and 1 day between them, he's easily a whole head taller than her.

They like - no, they LOVE to play together. And in a lot of ways, their differences help them to have more fun together. For example...

Zach enjoys being dirty. I don't know if that's because he's a boy, or if he just likes to dig right in to everything he encounters. But the kid isn't the slightest put off about being messy.

Kaylan, on the other hand, HATES being dirty. This is her after she stuck 2 fingers into her birthday cake and started crying. She wanted no part of it. If she gets anything on her hands, she runs to her mommy and says "no dirty".
She's also a good sleeper, which is something I've never been able to say about Zach. Although, he has recently been sleeping much better... which is nice, because it means I get to sleep better!

Despite their differences, I think the one thing they have the most in common is that they're adorable! Here they are in our double wagon at Brown County State Park. They're supposed to be checking out the ponies... Kaylan kept barking at them because she thought they were giant dogs. Zach was a little wary of them until he saw that she wasn't scared. Their little personalities, despite all the differences, really compliment each other.

They're just very funny together. Since I'm not teaching summer school this summer (something I've done the past 6 of 7 years - the only time I didn't is when I had Zach), we've got big plans for the two of them. And I don't think either of them will mind one bit!

Melissa Lakeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01451801697070635749noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7253942694408612569.post-24689043301858311882011-02-12T07:21:00.002-05:002011-02-12T07:40:56.054-05:00TalkingThere was a time when Chris and I were worried that Zach's speech might be a little delayed. The 8 ear infections in 8 months before he got his tubes made us wonder how much he was actually hearing, because of all the pressure in his ears. We were silly to worry though; the little man talks non-stop and pretty clearly. In fact, his sitter told us yesterday that she understands him better than the 2 and 2 and a half year olds! Since he's only 18 months, I felt like this was a good compliment.

There are a lot of words he can say, but I think the most important thing is that he uses them in context and he strings them into sentences. When he's finished eating, he says "All done". When he's peed, he says "I pee" and when he's pooped he says "I poo". He just recently started saying "I like it" and "I no like it" for things. Chris taught him to say "Hey baby" to girls, and let's just say Zach doesn't discriminate. When we went to breakfast at Cow Palace the other day, all of the nice blue-haired octagenarians got a "Hey baby" as we were leaving, along with a wave. And I know what you're probably thinking... all parents can understand what their kids are trying to say, but to everyone else it's gibberish. Sometimes the things he says are a little bit on the gibberish-y side, but for the most part it's clear. Mr. Gray would say he enunciates well. When my dad was over the other day, he asked me if Zach really just said "oh, man" and "that's cool" when they were playing with their trucks...

I think now we have to start worrying about what he's going say next. Heidi said that Kaylan recently started saying "crap".... in context, nonetheless!

(This was right after his first haircut, and we took him to Olive Garden. He likes to help with the dishes, with sweeping the floors, and especially with the laundry. The other day, after he had helped get all the clothes out of the dryer, he finally gave in to what had been tempting him for a couple weeks.... and climbed in the dryer.

Hmm...... wonder how I'll get back out.... Then on Wednesday, I thought Zach was acting like he didn't feel great when I picked him up from the sitter. And I was right - around 6:00 Wednesday night he started vomiting like crazy and vomited all night long. Thursday morning I stayed home with him, and after Chris left for work Zach started throwing up every few minutes. As soon as he was done vomiting, he would just beg for something to drink.... so I knew he was dehydrated. In desperation, I called Heidi to come over and help me until Chris could leave work half day to come home. I don't know what I would have done without her. She was a total lifesaver, especially when Zach puked right in my face (thank God my mouth was closed or I'd have added to the mess). By the time Chris got home, I was really worried about Zach because he couldn't keep anything down for more than a few minutes, and he hadn't had a urine diaper for over 8 hours, which is a definite sign of dehydration. When he started acting lethargic, we took him to him ER. They did blood work on him and determined that it was a gastrointestinal virus that has been making the rounds, and that he was severely dehydrated. So my poor baby got an IV and had a full bag of IV solution go through him... and he started feeling better! When they gave him some pedialyte to drink and he was able to keep it down, they let us take him home. My mom and dad were at the hospital with us at this point, and Zach only had eyes for his Grammie. I'm thinking he was holding a grudge for me not rescuing him when those horrible nurses were holding him down and poking him with needles! He just clutched onto her, and as she was putting him in his car seat he looked at her and said, clear as day, "I sick". It was both adorable and pathetic at the same time.

He's thrown up a couple more times and has had diarrhea, but overall he's on the mend. I think by Monday he should be okay. Our babysitter was nice enough to let us borrow her carpet cleaner, because frankly the odor was overpowering where he was sick so many times. I'm just relieved he's okay. My little guy truly is a Superman...

Melissa Lakeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01451801697070635749noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7253942694408612569.post-71053817936890512992010-12-31T15:30:00.003-05:002010-12-31T15:41:45.090-05:00Resolutions....

I'm a terrible blogger. There. I said it. My last post was about Zach's birthday party, and here it is nearly half a year later. I could give a bunch of excuses about work and responsibilities and being tired after chasing after a 1 year old with boundless energy all the time, but those would just be excuses....

So, here I am with my New Year's resolutions.

1. Eat better. I know most people make this resolution in the context of losing weight, but I'm not focusing on that. I just want to do a better job of cooking healthy foods and making sure we're all eating as healthfully as possible. I hate the idea of eating fast food more than once a week or eating junk often. Right now we're not doing horrible, but we definitely have room for improvement...

2. Make time for things that I enjoy. This includes blogging. I feel like I get so caught up in responsibilities, like work, house stuff, taking care of Zach, etc. that sometimes I forget that once upon a time I was a reasonably well rounded person with interests and hobbies. More than anything, I guess my goal is to find some balance and find ways to not be stressed out all the time.

Lofty goals, huh?

I hope everyone has a wonderful start to the New Year!

Melissa Lakeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01451801697070635749noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7253942694408612569.post-81964186206192354552010-08-02T09:23:00.004-04:002010-08-02T09:54:42.896-04:00Zach's Birthday!!!We had Zach's first birthday party the Saturday before his actual birthday (which is July 26). It was a great success! It was a baseball theme, and it was a lot of work but a lot of fun. We had the party at our house, and because the Kroger's bakery wanted an astronomical amount of money for a couple dozen cupcakes plus a cake for Zach, Heidi and I made all the baked goods. Keeping in with the baseball theme, we served ball park food: hamburgers, hot dogs with coney sauce, giant pickles, soft pretzels, and nachos. Zach had a blast; he likes big groups of people, especially when all eyes are on him. Plus, some of our friends that have children the same age came, so he had lots of playmates. He received a lot of great toys and books, which is wonderful because we read 4-5 books a night with him - so it was good to add to our repetoire. My mom and Heidi went together to get him a sandbox, which he absolutely loves. And Chris and I got him a swingset. He plays on it at least twice a day, so it was a great present.

I can't believe my baby is already a year old. It seems like yesterday that he was all brand new and squishy-faced, and now he talks and runs and dances and jumps and climbs. And has opinions on EVERYTHING. He's got 6 teeth and is working on 4 more, and absolutely refuses to eat any pureed baby food. He's tall and handsome and looks like his Daddy with my brown eyes. It's amazing how fast this year has gone by, and I can only imagine how fast the years will continue to grow...

This is the picture I used for his party invitations.

A glimpse of all the cupcakes and Zach's cake: We had baseball caps, baseballs, and Zach had his very own baseball diamond. So when Heidi and I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, he got very thoughtful and said that he'd like to go to the zoo with his grandbabies. So that's what we did! We even managed to go about a week before his birthday, when the high was about 75. It was a perfect day for it, the kids did way better than anticipated, and we all had fun! Kaylan really like the lemurs of all things; she thought they were hilarious! Zach was intrigued by a lot of the animals, but he was partial to the dolphins, tiger, and monkeys. But his favorite part was probably the petting area, where he got face to face with some goats and a giant Flemish rabbit that had to weigh 30 pounds. Now, my batteries in the camera died out about halfway through the trip, so I don't have pictures of everything. But Heidi does, and she should be posting them on Facebook in the near future, so be sure to check them out!

An iguana in the desert biome. Mom got them a little baby pool to play in, and they adore the water! In fact, we even got Zach a pool of his very own to keep at his house. We've taken them both to the city pool as well, and while Kaylan wasn't as big a fan as Zach, they both were definitely in favor of it. Heidi and I are going to do swimming lessons with them next summer, we think. So here we go!

Uncle Chris (aka Daddy) with Zach and Kaylan after playing in the pool...

What's that stuff on your face, Uncle Chris?

You'll notice that Zach has ALL the toys by him and KayKay is just sitting there. It appears to be a theme in their relationship. However, she can crawl now, so she's becoming a little more assertive in going after the stuff she wants. And in getting away from him once she's got it. It's really quite comical...

That's my Mom playing with them... she just eats it up! He hasn't had any ear problems since then, and we've noticed a huge improvement in his hearing. He's also trying to talk more and says DaDa pretty well! I really think he would have had a language delay if we hadn't gone ahead with the tubes! He enjoyed Easter and my Grandma Carolyn's 70th birthday party, although he couldn't figure out why everyone was so excited to find eggs. He can take about 2-4 steps by himself before he falls down now, so I think he'll probably be walking completely on his own by the end of May.

On to pictures!<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; I just realized it's been a month since I posted our sledding pics! But we've had a LOT going on!

Update 1: Zach has been eating a lot of "real" food for a while now. He really likes it and always grabs the spoon out of your hand and tries to do it himself. Our babysitter keeps telling me I shouldn't let him do that, but I figure how else will he learn to feed himself if you don't let him get a little practice? Besides, I know who cleans up around this joint, and she doesn't mind the mess!!!

These are a Garden Veggie mix (which I think has green beans, peas, spinach, and some rice). He really likes it! Of course, his favorites are fruit, but we make a point to get in lots of veggies every day... in fact, he's better about eating his vegetables than his daddy is!

Update 2: Zach can CRAWL!!!!!!!!!! He started about a month ago, and now the little monster can really MOVE! If you're doing the math, that means he started crawling at a little over 6 months. In this picture, I was trying to change his diaper, which of course is a totally challenging experience now that he's mobile! We've been trying to babyproof the house, but it seems like every time we turn around he finds something else we need to take care of. On the plus side, he is starting to learn what NO means...... not that it slows him down all that much. He usually just looks at you with this rotten little grin and continues to do whatever he isn't supposed to be doing!

Update 3: He's also pulling up and trying to walk! He can stand alone for a few seconds at a time, but he's not great at that yet! But he is really good at pulling up, and he's starting to figure out walking around while holding on to whatever he pulled up on. But the funniest thing is when he pulls up and just lets go to stand on his own.... his face is a mix of triumph and concentration and laughter... laughter because he knows he's going to fall right on his bottom! And when he does, he gets right back up and does it again! Everyone that sees him think he'll be walking within the next few months.... so we'll have even more babyproofing to do!

Update 4: When he starts to get tired, he really likes to be read to. Before, he wasn't really that interested in reading; he'd rather play! But now he really likes it, and we read 2 or 3 books a night. I think he likes it when Chris does it better, because Chris does better voices than I do! Except for Chris' pirate voice, which always makes him pout and cry!

Update 5: The poor little fella, for all his new milestones, hasn't been that healthy. About a month ago, we had to take him to the emergency room where he was diagnosed with RSV. Luckily they didn't have to keep him, and we just had to do nebulizer treatments with him for about 2 weeks. Apparently there were 2 little boys at the sitter with RSV, and it just passed right along to him. The most frustrating part for me (aside from the sitter allowing those contagious little boogers to come and spread their germs to Zach and 3 other kids) was that 3 days before we took him to the hospital I had taken him to the pediatrician because he wasn't feeling well and I knew he'd been exposed... and they told me he was fine except for an ear infection! And speaking of ear infections, because he's had 6 in his short little 7 1/2 months, he's going to have tubes put in on Wednesday. The specialist doing it is really nice and I've heard a lot of good things, but I'm still a nervous wreck about it. I guess the whole procedure only takes 5 minutes, but they do have to put him to sleep for it. So keep us in your thoughts on Wednesday!!!

Melissa Lakeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01451801697070635749noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7253942694408612569.post-79849252930527228202010-02-08T18:58:00.004-05:002010-02-08T19:06:53.546-05:00Snow and Sledding....With all the snow we had over the weekend, we decided to take Zach sledding for the first time! To start off the update on a sad note, Chris's grandfather, GaGa, passed away 2 weeks ago. He was 87 years old. It was hard all around for everyone, but we're all doing okay now. Chris's grandmother is doing pretty well, so that makes all of us feel a little better.

Zach had another ear infection. That makes 3 (although one of those 3 times he had infection in both ears, so I guess it could really be 4 infections). He has his next well check on the 16th, so we'll start the talks about the possibility of tubes then. I guess the general rule of thumb is 6 in a year. So we'll see how that plays out. I hate the thought of him having to have any sort of surgery, but the poor kid has pretty much had one ear or the other infected constantly for the past 3 months.

Yesterday we had a play date with Heidi and Kaylan (which is funny because they go to the same babysitter, so it's not like they never see each other - it was more for Heidi and I, I think!). It's basically a very serious infection in the skin surrounding the eye socket. It causes high fever and can lead to meningitis due to the close proximity to the brain. It's ususually a result of a sinus or ear infection that travels into the eye area. Want to know how I know so much about this disease? Zach had it and was in the hospital for three days.

He woke up on Dec. 29th looking like this.... and he had a fever of over 102. So we called the pedatrician, who told us to take him to the emergency room.

We had to wait like 3 hours in the emergency waiting area and rooms until we saw a doctor... I guess it was a busy day for emergencies. That's not very comforting when you've got a sick baby whose eye is swelling worse by the minute. I actually don't have a picture of how bad it got... I couldn't bear to look at it again. But it was completley closed, and it stuck out so far that it looked like there was a giant gumball under his eyelid. They talked about sending him to Riley but decided unless he got worse it wasn't necessary.

With Grandpa Dave in his room. My parents, and Chris's mom, were really good about visiting us and bringing us food. Heidi came and stayed with him some too. I think it made him feel better to see so many familiar people when he was in an unfamiliar place. I have no idea why Chris put them on him, but it was pretty hilarious! His sitting in his Bumbo chair (which he absolutely loves), and he usually does this every morning while we're getting ready for work. We looked high and low for something that would be original and funny and that he PROBABLY won't hate us for when he grows up. So while searching online, we found this Woopie cushion costume and just thought it was the funniest thing. Plus, we worked really hard with him on blowing raspberries in the weeks leading up to Halloween. So we had a Woopie cushion that made fart noises!!!

It's been a pretty smooth transition since I went back to work the first week of November. He (and we) love the babysitter. She lives right down the road from us, and when it's warm we can walk him down and pick him up. Plus, our friends take their two little girls there (Zach's girlfriends!) so that gives you a huge vote of confidence. Zach has recently gotten very possessive of his Mommy. For example, he gets really, and I mean REALLY mad when I hold Kaylan. Chris could hold her for hours and Zach wouldn't care, but all I can get in is about 10 minutes before he throws a major fit! But as soon as I put her down, he's fine! And if Zach sees Chris giving me a kiss, he gets mad! If he's in reaching distance, he'll put his little hands up and try to push Chris's face away! And then he gives him dirty looks! It's one of the funniest things he does, really. Maybe it's because he loves to give me kisses... Zach will reach up, grab both sides of my face, pull me close, and just slobber away! I can't lie, I don't really mind it at this point!!!

Thanksgiving next week will bring all of Chris's family, along with my Dad and Grandpa to our house. I'm not cooking as much as I usually do, but it will still be fun! Hope everyone has a good holiday!

Melissa Lakeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01451801697070635749noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7253942694408612569.post-22907253611846312022009-10-30T08:18:00.003-04:002009-10-30T08:33:54.161-04:00Big Week! It's been a big week in the Lakes household! Aside from it being my last week of maternity leave (boooooo), we also had a lot of surprise visits from family and the All Conference banquet to attend. We had to go to the banquet because Chris was honored as the Tennis Coach of the Year. It's the second time in 4 years he's been recognized, and I'm really proud of him. Especially this season, since it wasn't easy for him to coach and be gone 12-14 hours each day with Zach at home - but they still managed to win county and the sectional!

On Monday Heidi and I went shopping in the Edinburgh Outlet Mall. Zach needed some new clothes (since he's growing like a weed) and I needed some pants for work. It was fun, especially since the weather was so beautiful! On Wednesday, Sheri came in to see Zach (and to go to the casino!). It was a nice visit, especially since she doesn't see him as often as she'd like.

Okay, on to the big news...

Can you guess what it is?????

Heidi had her baby girl Tuesday night! I'm fairly certain that walking the entire perimeter of the outlet mall encouraged things along. Kaylan Jeannette McIntire was born at 10:01 Tuesday evening, is 19 inches long, and weighed in at 6 lbs. 3 oz. And realistically, that's a perfectly average length and weight for a baby, but she just seems soooooo tiny to me compared to Zach. I mean, Zach had almost 3 pounds on her at birth! But as it turns out, it's lucky Kaylan is a little gal.... because Heidi progressed from a 1 to a 9 in about 45 minutes, and they couldn't give her an epidural!!! I can't imagine!!!!!!!!!

Okay, so I know it's horrible that I don't have pictures, but I still can't find the cord to upload pictures from my digital camera. The boogey man must have eaten it or something... I guess I'll have to suck it up and buy a new one... So I promise I'll have pictures soon! (In case you're wondering how I've posted pictures the last two times, it's because those are pictures Sheri has taken and emailed to me) Kaylan looks JUST like her Daddy and has a lot of light brown hair. She's tiny and delicate and everything a little girl should be, and she's got the funniest squeaky newborn cry I've ever heard!

Tomorrow will have us trick or treating and letting Zach enjoy his first Halloween party with our neighbors. Their little girls are 3 and 7 months, so of course we say that Zach and Addie (the 7 month old) are boyfriend and girlfriend. And I'll let you know what he ended up being for Halloween soon!!!Melissa Lakeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01451801697070635749noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7253942694408612569.post-9551312177581123132009-10-20T09:34:00.003-04:002009-10-20T09:45:55.368-04:00Shots... booo......
Zach got his first round of shots last Thursday. He hasn't felt too great since then, which I guess is to be expected. Each day gets a little easier though! I go back to work in two weeks, and I'm looking forward to it and dreading it all at the same time. This week is Fall Break, so Chris will be home for a 4 day weekend. We're both really looking forward to that!

Zach is 12.7 pounds and is 25.5 inches long. That puts him in the 50th percentile for weight and the 90th for length. His pediatrician looked at him, and then looked at Chris, and said that he must take after his Daddy by being tall and skinny!

The day before he had his doctor's visit, we went to Connersville for the afternoon. Chris and I had an appointment with the eye doctor. My eyes were just a little bit worse, which I guess is common after pregnancy. Chris thought his vision would be about the same, but it was actually quite a bit worse than he thought! He now has astigmatism in both eyes, whereas before it was only in one eye. I've always has astigmatism in both, so it didn't seem like a big deal to me...

Anyway, here are some pictures from the Connersville trip!

Melissa Lakeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01451801697070635749noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7253942694408612569.post-7791822945383268342009-10-04T15:57:00.004-04:002009-10-04T16:14:06.317-04:00New Pictures...So here are some new pictures of Zach. I can't believe he's 10 weeks old! He's really got smiling and laughing down this week, which is super fun for me. He laughs at a lot of stuff, but anytime anyone around him farts, including himself, he laughs! If anyone wasn't sure before, that alone should be able to prove that my son!!! Heidi's baby shower is next Saturday, so hopefully I'll have some pictures of her and more of Zach as well. She's only got 4 more weeks to go and is really ready to have her little girl. In other news, Chris's tennis team won the sectional on Saturday 3-2 against Shelbyville. It's the second time they've won in 4 years. I'm really proud of him! Okay, on to pictures...

Here's one of Zach smiling... Bath Time (before and after)....

Sitting up on the couch - this is one of his most favorite things to do, and he often watches TV. I can't find the USB cord to load pictures on to our computer. Zach is doing very well - he's liking baths more and more and is sleeping for 4-5 hours through the night. He's very playful and beginning to babble more and more. One of the funniest things he does is talk up a storm when Chris gets home from work! I can only assume he's telling him about his day. And speaking of Chris, I've got some good news and bad news.... The good news is that his tennis team won the county tourney last weekend! This is the second time in three years! Here's the link to the article in the paper on it: http://www.shelbynews.com/articles/2009/09/21/sports/doc4ab6f6124c0cc229115382.txt The bad news is that we found out last week that he has a sports hernia. He felt sort of achy in his lower abdomen and there was a small lump there, so we went to the doctor where he was diagnosed with a hernia. We meet with a surgeon next Monday to get surgery scheduled - the plan is to get it taken care of in October since I'll still be home on maternity leave and will be able to take care of him. It's outpatient surgery and the recovery time is 1-2 weeks.

Heidi is due in 5 weeks! She's got the baby's room decorated really cure in safari animals. Her baby shower is October 10. They've decided to name her Kaylan Jeannette (Jeannette is Heidi, my Mom, and my Grandma's middle name, which makes Kaylan the 4th Jeannette in the family). Heidi's sort of at that point where she's tired and achy all the time... the baby hasn't dropped yet, but I'd say that will happen any day now. Jeremy is really excited - he practically bounces off the walls like a little kid!!! That's all for now!Melissa Lakeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01451801697070635749noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7253942694408612569.post-63287290484156353982009-09-14T19:23:00.004-04:002009-09-14T19:37:08.426-04:007 Weeks!
I can't believe my little man is 7 weeks old already! It seems like just yesterday he was born! Today he went to the doctor and got some vaccinations... it was pretty upsetting for us both. At least he's doing better now. He's doing a great job holding his head up and is working on rolling over from his back to his belly. Today he weighed in at 11 pounds and was almost 24 inches long, which puts him in the 75th percentile for both weight and length.

Over the Labor Day weekend we had our first overnight visit. The three of us went to Connersville and spent the night with Grandma Sheri and Papaw Wayne. Zach did a lot better than I expected! The only real negative was the car ride, since he HATES to ride in the car. What make them special is that day Zach picked up his head and started turning it while he was on his belly! And then two days ago, he rolled over from his belly to his back. Chris and I thought for sure it was a fluke, so we kept putting him back on his belly.... and the little squirt rolled over like 7 times!!! We are still in total shock over it, since he really shouldn't be able to do that for a couple months. But his pediatrician said he's in the 90th percentile for pretty much everything, so it's not completly surprising that he's doing stuff early, it's just that it's a little earlier than anyone thought! I'm sure every mom thinks it, but I'm pretty sure Zach's a genius!!!

Melissa Lakeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01451801697070635749noreply@blogger.com1
